To ensure that the solar filter you buy will fit properly, please take a fewmoments and measure the outside diameter of your telescope, spotting scope orbinoculars before you order. Remember, the solar filter needs to fit snuglyaround the front of the tube assembly that holds the optics. If the filter isslightly larger than its diameter, the filter can be made to fit by theaddition of self-stick felt spacers to the inside of the cell. However, if thefilter is too small it will not fit, and that would be a shame. So please,measure before you order. Thanks.

The Baader ASSF 150 AstroSolar ClearWhite Spotter Solar Filter offers a stableand rigid solution for all spotting scopes, tele-lenses and amateurtelescopes, with magnifications up to 120x. The AstroSolar filter material islikewise mounted onto a plastic ring whereas the plastic ring itself works asstabilizing element for the filter cell. This still plastic ring is mountedonto the aluminum front frame. The thermal expansion coefficient of theplastic and the film are similar.
Baader’s mounted filter line is professionally inspected to ensure your filterprovides a pleasant, safe experience. This filter attaches to your spotting scope or telescopewith an adjustable three-bolt system, with 10 mm thick, 38 mmlong, bolts providing a variable fit. These bolts can secure the filter to theexterior or interior of your optics, giving the Baader ASSF 150 AstroSolarClearWhite Spotter Solar Filter an external mounting range of 7.4″ – 8.5″ andinternal mounting range of 6.6″ – 7.7″ (see Product Attachments for moreinformation on if this range is right for your optic). The adjustment slotsare marked, making it easy to evenly adjust the clamping bolts. For addedsafety, this filter includes a set of three safety straps with adhesivemounting pads.

The AstroSolar ClearWhite Safety Film OD 5.1 is a high-quality, double-sidedmetallized solar filter film designed for direct solar observation as well asfor constructing front-mounted objective filters for telescopes, binoculars,spotting scopes, and camera lenses. It was developed to provide a particularlyneutral, clear white solar image. Undesirable bluish or orange color casts,which may occur with simpler solar filters, are largely avoided
The film has an optical density of OD 5.1 and reduces the intensity ofsunlight by approximately 99.9992%, corresponding to a reduction factor ofabout 125,000. It complies with the applicable transmittance requirements ofEN ISO 12312-2:2015 for filters intended for direct observation of the sun.
The film is manufactured from a special streak-free and bubble-free substrateand achieves an optical quality comparable to high-quality plane-parallelglass filters despite a thickness of only 0.012 mm. The material is notordinary “Mylar” and was developed for exceptionally high uniformity andoptical purity.
The double-sided coating ensures especially uniform filter performance andreduces the effect of isolated microscopic irregularities in themetallization. A single layer of AstroSolar ClearWhite Safety Film OD 5.1 issufficient to produce a safe solar filter with excellent image sharpness.

Baader Solar Filters provide a safe way to observe and photograph the Sun withAstroSolar ClearWhite Safety Film OD 5.1 in the best possible quality. In manyhomemade filters, the filter material is stretched tightly to make it looklike a glass filter. However, this reduces the image quality and makes thefilter unusable for higher magnifications. AstroSolar Safety Film must bemounted absolutely tension-free in order to act like a high-precisionplane-polished optical window. Although this appears to contradict the usualperception of quality, AstroSolar must show slight waves. Only when the filtermaterial is exposed to tension due to an inadequate holder does it perform nobetter than a simple glass filter made of optically untreated window glass.
